The story revolves around Haruka Nanase, a boy who has always loved to be immersed in water, and to swim in it. After achieving victory, each of the boys went their separate ways.
Time passed, and in the middle of their uneventful high school lives Rin appears and challenges Haruka to a match, showing Haruka his overwhelming power. Not wanting it to end like this, Haruka, gathers together Makoto and Nagisa once again and brings a new member named Rei Ryugazaki to create the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club in order to defeat Rin.

Review:
Free!—Iwatobi Swim Club is one of the most hotly anticipated and controversial anime series of the Summer 2013 season. The circumstances that lead this anime to its current status are a bit odd and amusing. In April Kyoto Animation (Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) unveiled the anime which is based off  Koji Oji’s light novel, High Speed!. Oji was an honorable mention recipient for the Kyoto Animation Award in 2011. When the anime fandom discovered Free! was primarily aimed at women (and gay men) an Olympic pool-sized fissure opened. Many male otaku were angered Kyoto was creating a show that didn’t pander to their tastes, i.e, girls with impossibly bouncy boobs and lots of panty shots. (This despite at least a dozen series that are aimed their way each and every season.) They decried the show for being nothing more than disgusting “fujoshi-bait.” The rest of the community cheered Kyoto’s decision as proof anime could also pander to women and that the fairer sex could finally have a nicely animated show with characters to ogle
